River Bridge

River Bridge is a track off/track on scheme where Guided Rail have provided the track design services along with Track Design CRE duties to facilitate the removal of an existing long timber underbridge with a new precast concrete structure.

Guided Rail were involved in the project since early December 2020 including work in the scoping of the topographic survey, producing the Form A, Form B and AFC design submissions with the construction works being undertaken and completed successfully during the weekend of week 9 2021.

Holgate Depot

Holgate Depot is situated northeast of York Railway Station and is currently used by Network Rail as a maintenance depot.

The Depot itself has recently been brought back into service however had subsequently reached its full capacity, with Network Rail looking to extend the layout by installing two new sidings within the existing footprint. Guided Rail were commissioned to undertake a combined Form A/B to produce the track and drainage design works to facilitate Network Rail’s requirements to increase the capacity of the depot.

Kings Cross Remodelling Project

Guided Rail Ltd supplied the track and drainage engineering assurance as Project Engineer (PE)/Track for our client Network Rail. The Kings Cross Project involved the remodelling of a life expired layout which included track and track drainage. The role covered supporting the installation team up to GRIP stage 6, Entry Into Service (EIS) and handing over the new asset to those responsible for day to day operation of the railway to close out GRIP 8.

The role covered engineering assurance and systems engineering requirements compliance during the 5 main construction stages in the form of technical support for the partial closure. Management of change control and reviewing the track and drainage construction plans. For EIS, the PE role was required to provide engineering assurance upon completion of each of the 5 stages through assurance of the Form A to G process and to provide where necessary the documented evidence that the new layout is in a safe and fit condition for EIS. The final part involved the completion of the Health & Safety (H&S) hand back file, upon completion of all works, the PE was to provide assurance that the H&S hand back file is completed with all the appropriate signed off documentation. This included the verification and validation of the project specification/requirements and AMP process.

Skelton Bridge Jn Maintenance Tamp ECM5

Skelton Bridge Jn is situated North of the city of York on ELR: ECM5. In Partnership with SEP Rail Services & SEP Rail Design (Our Client), Guided Rail provided the P-Way design services for a track scheme to be implemented by Network Rail’s Track Maintenance team at a “difficult site, in terms of access opportunity and track quality management”. The scheme comprised of a tamping design for the Up & Down Fast lines, including realigning the geometry through 6 point ends and associated tamping of the plain line off the back of four turnouts below Electrified Overhead Line.

With SEP Rail Services undertaking the Topographical survey activities, and supported by SEP Rail Design undertaking the design management/coordination with the Client, we were able to complete the design within an extremely challenging time frame with surveys undertaken during Week 29, P-Way design undertaken in Week 30, delivery of the design to the TME in Week 31, followed by the successful installation of the scheme during Week 32 2021/22.
